Here’s another: Relax.
For many people, experiencing nature and God’s beautiful creation is one of the best ways for them to unwind and connect on a deeper level with God. Personally, a walk on the beach will renew my emotions, spirit, and mental state. It revives my creativity and refreshes my soul.
Thanks to a special partnership with Southeast Adventure Outfitters, you will have an opportunity to do just that on Monday afternoon. This optional excursion is a guided 3-hour kayak tour.

Taking A Break (via Jeff Goins) 0
Our friend, Jeff Goins, an amazing blogger and writer from Franklin, TN recently wrote about “Taking a Break from Technology” on his blog.
Although “Refuge” may not be a complete break from technology (though you could certainly choose to ditch the cell phone, laptops, iPads, etc), it’s definitely within the same idea. Take a break. Change your surroundings. Shake things up so you can hear yourself again.

Meet Mandy. Mandy Thompson. Lots of you will know Mandy from blog world and her twitter stream @mandythompson.
Mandy is one of the many creatives living here in what we call “The Golden Isles”. She’s part of the creative team who is helping host and shape this experience we’re planning called “Refuge”.
Mandy has a passion for helping people experience God in His fullness. She works this out at The Chapel in Brunswick, GA and will soon be planting a campus with her husband, Drew.

Trent Smith at Refuge 0
Trent Smith (Paradise, CA) will be joining the music team at Refuge in October. Trent has been a faithful member of TheWorshipCommunity.Com for years. It was in the forums of TWC where we discovered Trent’s music. He would share a few lyrics or song ideas and they were amazing. Trent has continued to be a part of the community at TWC as a songwriter, musician, worship leader, and contributing author.
Trent will be joining our house band, though I’m sure we’ll be hearing some of his special songs. In keeping with our vision to build Refuge “from within our community”, Trent is a wonderful addition to our team.
Debby Berry to Speak at Refuge 2
Debby Berry has been added to the lineup as one of our speakers at “Refuge” this October.
Debby Berry is the CEO of PraiseCharts and its parent company, Sonreign Media, Inc. Debby has been with PraiseCharts and Sonreign for over five years. She came to PraiseCharts initially as a consultant doing conflict resolution and contract negotiations while working with a law firm. She also has a long history of working in media as a magazine publisher in New York and Los Angeles and served as president of a cosmetic and hair care products company. A Christian since 1993, Debby has a served on pastoral staff for three churches. She is a wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, lover of the Word and unshakable believer in the goodness of God.
I first met Debby at the Forge Conference in Fall 2010. Her session at Forge had us laughing hysterically and before we knew it, we’d be sharing tears of sincerity.
At the re:create conference in February 2011 I was able to reconnect with Debby. She was there as a Sponsor, representing PraiseCharts. Once again, we laughed and had an incredible time of sharing. Debby was able to peek deep into my soul and speak to issues in my heart that left me at peace.
In a casual conversation about fasting, Debby shared about she and her husband started a 21-day fast from TV … and that was several years ago – still going. She commented on how many hours they spend in God’s Word. With her humor, loving spirit, and wisdom from years of conflict resolution, negotiating, and a wealth of insight from the Word of God, I knew Debby would be a perfect fit for “Refuge”.
Debby is meditating on the “rest of God” and plans to share about how we can be a part of God’s rest. This is sure to be an inspiring time. As with our other “Refuge” speakers, Debby will be with us the duration of the event and will be on hand to visit and fellowship with all attendees.
